It must be real frustrating for Bugge to see these negative comments... all I can say as a pianist for 25 years now is that this really rocks... its like he took over the baton from Herbie Hancocks Mwandishi period.. maybe Eddie Henderson/Hal Galper all those guys... before they all went disco...Bugge is one of the only guys progressing the genre... most other guys want jazz to remain a historical artefact

zooglemop, as drumdik said: you are so out of time. But also, do the homework! You can't compare The Duke and the Count with these guys! If you'd come up with miles davis I'd seriously listen to you. So first try comparing Duke and Miles.... thats like comparing an apple to a potatoe: NOT!!!

Hmmm, there's a few interesting licks there. But this is too "poppy" for my taste. I mean, other than those few chord modulations, there was nothing really interesting, rhythmically or harmonically. I think it can get a lot more musical than this guy jammning over one chord. Check out "Directions in Music:... w/ Herbie Hancock, Roy hargrove, and Michael Brecker". Thats some absolutely intense music.

Oy! Zooglemop! First make a name for yourself before you diss another...Suck it.
drumdik (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
zooglemop, you are so out of time man, of course the duke and the count were great, but how do you think they would play if they were alive NOW.You just go on and make Rembrandt paintings, compose like Telemann, read the bible as a good novel and be happy. we go on and invent and explore they outer boarders of music. VIVA BUGGE! creatitivity on the f....insyant.RESPECT!

This incredibly pretentious Music?? is a fairly good representation of what is wrong with this screwed up world - all flash, no substance - Duke Ellington & Count Basie said more, musically, in four bars, than than this guy will ever say in his whole career ( if you can call this shit a 'career')
