I think the joke may partly be on how other songs are written. First you make a point, then make it catchy and then repeat it endlessly. Now you have a song with depht.

There is some part of humor that comes from repeating a word or phrase to the point of absurdity. At some point it just becomes ridiculous. Very dry sense of humor
