Hines Ward, Superbowl XL MVP, is changing the way mixed-race Koreans are viewed and treated in Korean society. Koreans celebrated his accomplishments and his mother's strong Korean character though she was shunned by her own people in the past. Hines reciprocated the process of amends by starting the Helping Hands Foundation for the support of mixed race Koreans in Korea. My Hero!

I'm an American first and formost, but you gotta remember who's in a recession right now. I can admit that we helped South Korea after the war and they prospered because of that, but we have to give them some props for being able to come out of a brutal war and turn their economy around big time. They might of gotten help in technology production, but they have made things their own now. Man, look and Samsung, their innovation has definetly become their own,and they are grateful for some things.

Most Korean men are meterosexual wimps who suffer from terrible penis envy. The majority couldn't punch their way out of a paper bag! If it wasn't for foreign investment and US troops there would be no South Korea - you know it, we all know it - as it is - South Koreans are enjoying their greatest period of prosperity EVER! Don't thank me but thank your friends on the other side of the pacific ocean - be grateful for once!

The US have helped South Korea - they have built that country and have defended it. What the Americans should do (I'm not American)is leave you posted by pulling out the troops on the DMZ. Lets see what happens - lets see what happens when your brothers from the north come a knockin' there will be plenty of pure seong blood flowing thats for sure.

If there are two countries who the US foreign policy have helped its South Korea and Israel. They have built this country as well as defended it from their own people in the north - have you been here? You have to laugh that there are 37,000 US troops to save you from your fellow Koreans from blowing the shite out of you - I would be ashamed if I was a Korean of this fact.

I know enough - I live in Korea so I know more than enough about what Koreans think - they think they are racially superior to other races and actually think that they have an higher IQ than other Asians. The amount of racist numbskullery I have to hear on a daily basis makes my head hurt. If I am right - westerners came into the country to fight off a North Korean invasion of the South - don't believe everything you read in Ro Whies crappy book!;)

Most Koreans will laugh or want to fight you if you ever said that foreigners saved Korea. I think you should study a non white washed version of Korean history before you address the problems faced by biracial people in Korea. However I do agree that genetically speaking there is no such thing as 'pure blood'. But culturally speaking Korea is for the most part a homogeneous and 'pure blooded' country.

If you think Korea owes anything to America I think we more than paid them back by becoming one of their biggest ally and sending combat troops to every single US military conflict since the Korean war. Thousands of our soldiers died helping the US during the Vietnam war so I think we more than paid them back if you still insist that the US 'helped' Korea. In order to truly understand the plight of biracial people in Korea you need to understand Korea's history of being screwed by foreigners.
sluttybog (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Is that what you learned in American schools? That the US 'helped' Korea? The reality is that Korea is basically a victim of foreign countries such as the US and the Soviet Union. These foreign countries that supported capitalism and communism all wanted a piece of Korea after our independence from Japan and that is what led to the division of the country. Don't make it sound as if America was being noble and selfless when the fact is they got involved because they wanted to spread capitalism.
