the british forced americans to import overtaxed tea...the british systematically murdered the irish for generations, enforced laws designed to destroy their culture, language and spirit. They indirectly killed a million and forced another million to emigrate during the famine... and they're still here.Don't talk about something you don't understand. I don't even understand it and I live here. I'm not near qualified enough to talk on it, and I doubt you are.

You won your full independence years ago. But please dont mention the killing of innocent people in the same breath as gaelic games. Any clubs named after martyrs are from our wars of independance, almost a century ago. The GAA is NOT a sectarian organisation and is in no way related to the IRA.

i didnt really lose respect i am part irish, i know it was just 1 or 2 people saying it but i was more of making a general statement. it is a jok. Even when it comes to the British, yes the british oppressed you and it was wrong. They did it to us Americans too and you dont see us bombing innocent people decades later.

Its not a protestant/catholic thing. Don't lose respect for 5 million people because one protestant came on and claimed this sport was "sectarian" Its been pointed out and proved that its not.A bit quick to jump to conclusions there.
Blucius13 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
WOW, this protestant Catholic thing is a joke. makes me lose all respect for Irish. do you guys not realize that religion has nothing to do with performance, especially since you both beleive in the same god. for christ sake get along, LITERALLY.

O aye, and rangers isnt a sectarian club! Some of the finest gaelic player are protestants. A certain meath based forward who works as a physio for example. Not going to name him because i know people like you would harass him for being involved in something you dont seem to understand.

When was the last time the north made it 2 a world cup? I remember NI beating spain once but thats cos u nevr shut up about it!

Yeah, and the loyalists in n.ireland really treated neil lennon with respect, didn't they? It's not a sectarian sport. The GAA is literally pumping millions into promoting the sport amongst foreign nationals living in Ireland.my club has a protestant playing for it. I'm in the republic of ireland. Things most likely will be different in n.ireland, but then again there's a lot more tension there than there is in the republic.
