The first movement is the highest realization of orchestral music I've ever heard. How it builds on a two-note melodic idea...and builds again. It's like first revelation in adolescence, vibrant full adulthood and finally those funereal bassoons. The perfection of the sotto voce wind parts against the full orchestra crecendos. And the use of pizzicato! Too great for criticism, should be known well to all in western culture.
