According to Paul, they were all driving around one night trying to brainstorm a name for the band, and Gene said "F*ck! Why don't we call the band F*ck!". Everyone was laughing hysterically til Peter chimed in, "Ok, well if that won't work, let's just tune it down a little and call ourselves KISS?" Suddenly, no one was laughing anymore. That, again, according to Paul anyway, was how the band's name came about. Any supposed acronym is the product of malicious and over-active imaginations.
